It’s Official: Clarkson, Hammond and May are off to Amazon

The secret is finally out and the ex BBC Top Gear stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James have announced that they have signed a deal to bring their new car show to Amazon Prime.

Amazon revealed today in an official statement that the “first season will go into production soon and is scheduled to premier for Prime members in 2016.” The trio’s long standing producer from Top Gear, Andy Wilman will also be producing the new show so it’s safe to say that the “dream team” are well and truly back.

It’s been rumoured for a while that new show could end up on a streaming service such as Netflix or Amazon Prime rather than traditional broadcasters, although up until this point Netflix was probably the favourite. As expected, reaction from fans has been mixed so far, partly due to the fact the Amazon Prime will require a subscription to watch the show, though overall most fans are just happy that their favourite trio will be back.

Amazon has yet to announce the name of the show, although they have started using the hashtag “Drive2Prime” but whether or not that’s a clue is anyone’s guess – we’ll just have to wait and see.

Regardless of which network they’ve signed up to and what it’s called, most fans will surely be happy to know that Clarkson, Hammond and May will be reunited on Television once again, and will be eagerly awaiting 2016 to see what they get up to next.
